| Chemical Properties | Aniline Blue is a dark brownish-purple crystalline powder. It is soluble and used as a biological stain in fluorescent microscopy, appearing yellow-green after excitation with violet light.

It can also be used to stain collagen fibers in tissue sections using Masson's trichrome protocol for staining multiple components. In this method, collagen stains blue. | | Preparation | C.I. Solvent Blue 3 (C.I. 42775) with strong sulfuric acid three stlfonation, and translated into sodium salt. | | Definition | ChEBI: Aniline Blue is an organic sodium salt resulting from the formal condensation of NSC 56820 with 2 mol eq. of sodium hydroxide.
