Preparation

Using p-dibromobenzene, dimethyldimethoxysilane, and magnesium shavings as raw materials, the phenylenesiloxysilane monomer 1,4-bis(dimethylmethoxysilyl)benzene was synthesized via the Grignard method. The target product, 1,4-Bis(hydroxydimethylsilyl)benzene, was then obtained via hydrolysis.

Uses1,4-Bis(hydroxydimethylsilyl)benzene is an effective silicon nucleophile for catalyzed palladium cross-coupling reactions.
