| | Ethyl 2-amino-4-methylthiazole-5-carboxylate Usage And Synthesis |
| Chemical Properties | off-white powder | | Uses | Ethyl 2-amino-4-methylthiazole-5-carboxylate is a biochemical reagent that can be used as a biological material or organic compound for life science related research. | | Synthesis | Thiourea (2.55 g, 0.033 mol, 1.1 eq.) was added to a solution of ethyl 2-chloro-3-oxobutanoate (5 g, 0.030 mol, 1 eq.) in ethanol (25 mL) at 25 °C. The reaction mixture was heated to reflux and kept for 3 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was slowly cooled to 25 °C under continuous stirring to induce precipitation of the product as a white solid. The precipitated solid was collected by filtration through a Büchner funnel and dried under vacuum to afford ethyl 2-amino-4-methylthiazole-5-carboxylate (4.8 g, 64% yield) as a final fine white powder. | | References | [1] Patent: CN108570017, 2018, A.
