Bicyclo[4.2.0]octa-1,3,5-trien-3-amine hydrochloride, also known as 4-amino-benzocyclobutane hydrochloride, is used as an intermediate in the manufacture of electronic packaging materials. This substance contains a benzocyclobutane (BCB) structural unit and possesses the ability to undergo thermally initiated self-crosslinking or to react with groups such as maleimide. It is used in the manufacture of photoresists with low dielectric constants and low moisture absorption.
