Upon binding to amyloid fibrils, these spectral peaks undergo a red shift; the maximum excitation peak of the bound state is around 440–450 nm, and the maximum emission peak is around 480–490 nm. | | History | In 1959, Vassar and Culling first employed Thioflavin T (ThT) for the fluorescence imaging of amyloid plaques, revealing its potential for histological staining.
