Synthesis

Using p-methylbenzoyl chloride and toluene as starting materials, and anhydrous AlCl3 as a catalyst, 4,4'-dimethylbenzophenone (4,4'-DMBP) was obtained via a Friedel-Crafts acylation reaction. The synthetic reaction formula is shown in the figure below:
