毛果天芥菜碱 是一种有肝毒性吡咯里西定生物碱 ( hepatotoxic PA)，在体内可引起致命的肝静脉闭塞性疾病。Lasiocarpine 只有在代谢转化为毒性中间体后才有毒性，包括 Dehydrolasiocarpine 和 N-oxide。
