| Chemical Properties | Dark brown powder. Insoluble in water, slightly soluble in xylene. Dark burgundy color in concentrated sulfuric acid, produces reddish brown flocculent precipitate after dilution. Reddish brown in alkaline solution of insurance powder, yellowish brown in acidic solution. | | Uses | Vat Brown 3 is mainly used for dyeing cotton fibers and polyester/cotton blended fabrics. It has good leveling properties and affinity. It is also used for dyeing polyester/viscose and viscose/cotton blended fabrics (the polyester component may have slight staining). It can be dyed with disperse dyes in a co-bath hot melt dyeing method or a two-bath dyeing method.
