Tadalafil

Tadalafil is a selective reversible inhibitor of cycloguanosine phosphate (cGMP) specific phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5). When sexual stimulation results in the local release of nitric oxide, PDE5 is inhibited by tadalafil, which increases the level of cGMP in the penile sponge, which leads to relaxation of smooth muscle and blood flow to the penile tissue, producing erections, as in the absence of sexual stimulation.
