Hydrogen bromide in acetic acid (HBr/HOAc), CAS 37348-16-6, is a 33 % (w/w) solution of anhydrous HBr in glacial acetic acid. The reagent appears as a colourless to light-yellow clear liquid with a pungent odour and provides a mild, homogeneous source of bromide for electrophilic or nucleophilic brominations and acid-catalysed alkylations.

Specifications & Quality Control

We offer 33 % HBr/HOAc as the standard grade; other concentrations (15–40 %) are available on request. Each lot is assayed by acid–base titration (±0.2 %) and screened for halogen purity; a COA is supplied to ensure batch-to-batch consistency from R&D to multi-ton scale.
