Application: 

1. Breast Cancer Treatment: Letrozole is widely used as an aromatase inhibitor in the adjuvant (post-surgery) and metastatic treatment of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women. It works by reducing estrogen levels, inhibiting the growth of estrogen-dependent breast cancer cells.

2. Adjuvant Therapy: Letrozole is often prescribed as adjuvant therapy after surgery or other primary treatments to reduce the risk of cancer recurrence in postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer.

3. Metastatic Breast Cancer: Letrozole is used to treat advanced or metastatic breast cancer in postmenopausal women. It helps control the progression of the disease by inhibiting estrogen production.

4. Fertility Treatment: In some cases, Letrozole may be prescribed off-label for women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) to induce ovulation and improve fertility. However, this use is not universally accepted, and the safety and efficacy for this purpose are still under investigation.
