Kex-2 (E.C.3.4.21.61) belongs to the subtilisin protease family and is a precursor processing enzyme encoded by yeast itself. It is a Ca2+- dependent serine protease that can specifically recognize and cleave the carboxyl terminal peptide bonds of bisbasic amino acids such as Lys Arg, Arg Arg, Pro Arg, etc. Unlike Trypsin, this enzyme cannot recognize and cleave the carboxyl terminal peptide bonds of a single basic amino acid, namely Arg or Lys. Kex2 protease activity is not inhibited by conventional serine protease inhibitors such as aprotinin, PMSF, and TPCK. The optimal operating pH is 9.0, and the stable storage pH is 5.0-6.0. This product adopts the efficient secretion and expression technology of recombinant Pichia pastoris, and is isolated and purified to obtain high-purity and highly active recombinant KEX2 protease.
