Protein phosphorylation plays a crucial role in the vasopressin signaling pathway in the renal collecting ducts. The phosphorylation of several AQP2 residues (including Ser256 and Ser261) changes in response to vasopressin. Both of these sites may be involved in vasopressin dependent AQP2 trafficking.
