Matrix metalloproteinase 11 (MMP11), also known as stromelysin-3. is a member of the MMP family involved in extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling and tissue homeostasis. Unlike other MMPs, MMP11 lacks intrinsic proteolytic activity against major ECM components but plays a role in processing bioactive molecules, influencing cell signaling and tumor microenvironment regulation. It is overexpressed in various cancers, including breast, colorectal, and pancreatic carcinomas, and is associated with tumor progression, metastasis, and poor prognosis. MMP11 is primarily secreted by stromal cells, such as cancer-associated fibroblasts, rather than tumor cells themselves, and its expression is often induced by cytokines or growth factors.

MMP11 antibodies are essential tools for studying its biological functions and clinical relevance. These antibodies enable the detection of MMP11 in tissues (via immunohistochemistry) or biological fluids (via ELISA or Western blot), aiding in cancer biomarker research and mechanistic studies.
