The ANKRD26 antibody targets the protein encoded by the *ANKRD26* gene, which is located on human chromosome 10p12.1. This gene encodes a large, multidomain protein containing an N-terminal ankyrin repeat domain, a central coiled-coil region, and a C-terminal proline-rich domain. ANKRD26 is implicated in various cellular processes, including signal transduction, cytoskeletal organization, and transcriptional regulation. Dysregulation of ANKRD26 has been linked to inherited thrombocytopenia (ANKRD26-related thrombocytopenia) caused by mutations in the 5' untranslated region of the gene, leading to abnormal platelet production and an increased risk of hematologic malignancies.

ANKRD26 antibodies are primarily used in research to study the protein’s expression, localization, and function in both normal and pathological contexts. In diagnostic settings, these antibodies may aid in identifying genetic disorders associated with ANKRD26 mutations. Studies also suggest a role for ANKRD26 in cancer biology, with altered expression observed in leukemia, breast cancer, and other solid tumors. Commercially available ANKRD26 antibodies are typically validated for applications such as Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence. However, researchers must verify antibody specificity due to potential cross-reactivity with other ankyrin repeat-containing proteins.
