PSD4 (Postsynaptic Density Protein 4), also known as SAP90/SAP4 or DLG4. is a member of the membrane-associated guanylate kinase (MAGUK) family. It plays a critical role in organizing synaptic structures and regulating signal transduction at excitatory synapses in the central nervous system. As a scaffolding protein, PSD4 anchors neurotransmitter receptors, ion channels, and signaling molecules to the postsynaptic density (PSD), a specialized protein-rich network beneath the postsynaptic membrane. This molecular architecture is essential for synaptic plasticity, which underpins learning and memory processes.

Antibodies targeting PSD4 are widely used in neuroscience research to study synaptic composition, receptor trafficking, and alterations in neurological disorders. For example, PSD4 expression or localization changes have been implicated in conditions like Alzheimer’s disease, schizophrenia, and autism spectrum disorders. These antibodies enable techniques such as Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunoprecipitation to visualize protein distribution, quantify expression levels, and investigate protein-protein interactions.

Commercially available PSD4 antibodies are typically raised against specific epitopes, often in rabbits or mice, with validation in knockout controls to ensure specificity.
