What does Terbinafine Hydrochloride treat?

Terbinafine Hydrochloride is an oral antifungal agent used to treat fungal infections of the hair, nails, and skin. It is also used to treat fungal infections of the scalp follicles in children at least 4 years old.

Side effects of Terbinafine

Common side effects of terbinafine may include: diarrhoea, nausea, flatulence, stomach pain or upset stomach; rash; headache; abnormal liver function tests. A few serious side effects may be allergic reactions (such as hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat) or severe skin reactions (fever, sore throat, burning eyes, skin pain, red or purple rash that spreads and causes blistering and peeling); patients with serious medical conditions may experience symptoms of liver damage after taking terbinafine (nausea, epigastric pain, vomiting, loss of appetite, tiredness, dark coloured urine, clay-coloured stools or jaundice), which may lead to liver transplantation or death, and should be used with caution.
