Steps:
4.1.7 2-(4-Bromophenyl)imidazo[2,1-b][1,3]benzothiazole (5)
2,4′-Dibromoacetophenone (5.0g, 18mmol) was added to a solution of 2-aminobenzothiazole (4) (2.7g, 18mmol) in CHCl3 (30mL) and the mixture was refluxed for 2h. After cooling, the deposited crystals were collected by filtration, added of ethanol (20mL) and refluxed with 2M HCl (20mL) for 2h. The mixture was treated with saturated NH4OH solution and the precipitate was collected and crystallized from EtOH to give 5 (yield 88%; mp 169.1-169.5°C from ethanol; reference [27] 161°C, reference [28] 164°C).
