Information regarding the commercial production of pyripropanol in open literature is very limited. However, based on its structure as a pyridine substituted propanol, its commercial synthesis would have followed standard heteroaromatic alkylation chemistry: preparation of the substituted pyridine ring, followed by side chain construction through nucleophilic substitution or Grignard type addition to introduce the propanol moiety. The resulting alcohol would then be purified, neutralised, and dried to yield technical grade pyripropanol for formulation.
