General procedure for the preparation of 6-amino-1,4-dihydro-3-methyl-4-substituted pyrano[2,3-c]pyrazole-5-carbonitriles

General procedure: To a mixture of aldehyde (2 mmol), malononitrile (2 mmol),ethyl acetoacetate (2 mmol), and hydrazine hydrate (4 mmol)was added CAPB (0.02 mol %) in H₂O (1.5 mL) and the mixture was stirred at 50-60 °C for the given times (Table 3). After completion of the reaction (TLC monitoring), cold H₂O was added and the precipitated product was filtered off and washed with H₂O to give the product. The structures of the dihydropyrano[2,3-c]pyrazole products 5a-r were identified by comparison of the spectroan alytical data with those reported in the literature (Table 3).
