Steps:



Compound 23 in free amine form was afforded from its corresponding dihydrochloride throughtreatment with Amblerite IRA-400 resin (chloride) [9,10]. The resin (1.5 cm3) was rinsed with water(20 mL), NaOH (20 mL) and again with water (20 mL) before testing the flow through for residual Cl-with AgNO3. Once complete conversion to the OH- form was established, the resin was washed withmethanol (10 mL) before dissolving 23·(HCl)2 (15 mg, 0.064 mmol) in methanol (1 mL) and adding itto the resin. The mixture was left to stir for 30 min before filtration and removal of solvent whichyielded 23 as a colorless solid (10 mg, 0.062 mmol, 97%).
