Beschreibung
Das 4-Chlorbenzotrifluorid bildet eine farblose, wasserunlösliche Flüssigkeit. Die Verbindung besitzt nur wissenschaftliches Interesse.
Synthese
In einem 1000-ml-Zweihals-Rundkolben wird eine Mischung von 144 ml 4-Chlorbenzotrichlorid und 200 g Antimon(III)-fluorid vorgelegt. Der Kolben wird mit Thermometer 0 bis 200℃ und einer Destillierbrücke mit Vorlage versehen. Anschließend erhitzt man das Gemisch in einem Heizpilz bis zur eintretenden Reaktion. Die Temperatur darf jedoch 150℃ nicht überschreiten. Das übergehende Rohprodukt wird in einem Scheidetrichter mehrfach mit Salzsäure, c = 6 mol/l, und zum Schluß mit Wasser gewaschen. Danach trocknet man mit wasserfreiem Natriumsulfat und reinigt das getrocknete Material durch Destillation. Die Ausbeute beträgt 148 g (95 % der Theorie) eines bei 139℃ siedenden Produktes.

Verwenden
4-Chlorobenzotrifluoride acts as an important intermediate for dyes. It is used as an active component of polyurethane finishes. It is also used in adhesives, pigments, sealant chemicals, paints and coatings. Further, it is used as an environmental friendly solvent for cleaning or degreasing and dielectric fluid. It has a high capacity to dissolve inks, which is used in the printing industry. In addition to this, it is also used as xylene replacement in cleaners, thinners and other aromatic hydrocarbon blends.
