Lupenone Chemical Properties, Uses, Production

Chemical Properties

White powder, soluble in methanol, ethanol, DMSO and other organic solvents, derived from dandelion, bamboo leaves and Adenophora australis.

Uses

Lupenone is a lupane triterpenoid with antioxidant and anticholinesterase activity. It also a potential protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) inhibitor.

Lupenone (6, 12, 24 mg/kg/day, gavage for 6 weeks) improves type 2 diabetic nephropathy by regulating NF-κB pathway-mediated inflammation and TGF-β1/Smad/ CTGF-related fibrosis[2].
