Synthesis

The synthetic route to 1,2-bis(dichlorophosphoryl)-ethane involves palladium-catalyzed reactions, ligand chemistry, and diphosphine ligands. It is synthesized from ethane in two steps: first, it is chlorinated by reaction with PdCl(CHCl) to form chloroethane (PEBE), which then reacts with PdCl(CHCl). The reaction product is then hydrolyzed to produce 1,2-bis(dichlorophosphoryl)-ethane.
