Disodium 2-oxoglutarate dihydrate is suitable reagent used in a study to investigate the role of nitric oxide (NO) in mast cell physiology and biochemistry.
Uses
α-Ketoglutaric acid disodium salt dihydrate (2-Oxoglutaric acid disodium salt) may be used as starting reagent for the synthesis of deuteriated 2-oxo[3,3-2H2]glutarate disodium salt.
General Description
α-Ketoglutaric acid disodium salt dihydrate (2-Oxoglutaric acid disodium salt) is the hydrated disodium salt of 2-oxoglutaric acid.
Hazard
Moderately toxic by ingestion.
Synthesis
To dimethyl 2,2-dichloroglutarate was added NaOH solution at a concentration of 30% (mass percent), and the reaction was carried out at 60 C for 4 h. The ratio of dimethyl 2,2-dichloroglutarate to NaOH was 1:0.7 in substance; wherein on dimethyl 2,2-dichloroglutarate The two Cl on dimethyl 2,2-dichloroglutarate were replaced by two OH, the two hydroxyl groups attached to the same carbon were unstable and dehydrated to form a carbonyl group, and the ester on both ends was hydrolyzed to become a carboxyl group under alkaline conditions to produce sodium -ketoglutarate.
