Perfluidone is a plant growth regulator and a herbicide.

Production Methods
The industrial synthesis of perfluidone is not described in open literature. However, it can be inferred from its chemical structure. Industrial manufacture would begin with preparation of the substituted aniline precursor, which is then sulfonylated using a phenylsulfonyl chloride or equivalent reagent to introduce the phenylsulfonyl group. In parallel, trifluoromethanesulfonyl chloride (or a related activated sulfonylating agent) is prepared to supply the trifluoromethanesulfonamide fragment. These two components are then coupled through amide forming sulfonylation, yielding the characteristic bis sulfonylated structure of perfluidone. After condensation, the crude product would be purified through solvent washing, filtration, and crystallisation to achieve technical grade purity.
