Thiazopyr is an herbicide used in controlling cell division.

ChEBI: Thiazopyr is an aromatic carboxylic acid and a member of pyridines.
Production Methods
Thiazopyr is produced commercially through a multi-step organic synthesis that constructs its pyridinecarboxylic acid ester structure. The process begins with the preparation of key intermediates such as substituted pyridine rings, which are functionalized with trifluoromethyl and difluoromethyl groups to enhance herbicidal potency and environmental stability. A thiazoline ring is then introduced to the molecule through cyclisation reactions, followed by esterification to yield the final active compound.

Agricultural Uses
Herbicide: Thiazopyr is not permitted as an active ingredient by the European Commission after July 25, 2003. It is used as a preemergent herbicide to control annual grasses and certain broadleaf weeds on citrus crops. Thiazopyr is not approved for use in EU countries[ 115]. Registered for use in the U.S.
