Uses
3,5-dichloro-2-pyridoxyacetic acid derived from 3,5-dichloro-2-pyridone serves as a direct pyridine analog of the herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid[1]. 3,5-dichloro-2-pyridone is used as a reactant in the Mitsunobu reaction with ethyl lactate, diisopropyl azodicarboxylate, and triphenylphosphine in N,N-dimethylformamide at room temperature to produce both N-alkylated and O-alkylated products[2].
