| | 8-Hydroxyquinolinolato-lithium Usage And Synthesis |
| Synthesis | 120 ml of dichloromethane was added to a 250 ml four-necked flask. First, hydrated lithium hydroxide was added, and the mixture was stirred until a white turbidity appeared. 8-Hydroxyquinoline was added in portions, and a milky yellow color was formed in less than half a minute; the milky yellow color quickly increased, and the reaction was carried out overnight at 25°C to obtain a large amount of pale yellow solid. The large amount of milky yellow solid was filtered and washed twice with 100 ml of dichloromethane. The mixture was then reacted at 200°C for 24 hours, yielding 90% 8-Hydroxyquinolinolato-lithium. | | Application | 8-Hydroxyquinoline-lithium is a widely used 8-hydroxyquinoline metal compound and has become a promising electron transport material in organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs). It is widely used in various types of electroluminescent devices, improving device performance. However, during the fabrication of OLEDs, trace impurities can easily cause pinholes, short circuits, and black spots, thus affecting device lifespan. Therefore, preparing high-purity materials is crucial. | | Chemical Properties | Light green solid powder | | Uses | 8-Hydroxyquinolinolato-lithium (Liq) is a highly efficient electron injection layer (EIL) material for use in OLEDs and OPVs. When applied as a thin interlayer between Alq₃ and aluminium, Liq significantly enhances device efficiency. Research has further demonstrated that an ultra-thin Liq interlayer substantially improves the operational stability of light-emitting diodes. |
