Example 2: 1.75 g of N-formyl-L-aspartic acid α-methyl ester (10 mmol) and 3.5 g of hydroxylamine hydrochloride (50 mmol) were dissolved in 10 mL of 90% methanol. The reaction mixture was stirred at 70 °C for 4 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was confirmed to contain L-aspartic acid α-methyl ester in 85% yield by analysis.
