DescriptionFlupyrimin is an insecticide that acts on nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR) developed by Meiji Seika Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in Japan.
Chemical PropertiesFlupyrimin is slightly soluble in water and soluble in organic solvents. Its single dose or compound preparation can be made into suspension concentrate (SC), wettable powder (WP), water dispersible granule (WG), powder (DP), emulsifiable concentrate (EC) and granules (GR) and other dosage forms.
UsesFlupyrimin has a wide range of applications and a wide control spectrum. It has good biological activity against many types of pests such as Hemiptera, Homoptera, Lepidoptera, Thysanoptera and Diptera, and can be used for rice, wheat, vegetables and fruit trees. and non-agricultural sectors.
Production MethodsFlupyrimin is manufactured through a streamlined, heterocycle-assembly route characteristic of modern mesoionic insecticides. Commercial production begins with construction of the mesoionic 1,2,4-triazolium type core, typically formed by cyclising appropriately substituted hydrazine and nitrile or carboxamide precursors under controlled conditions that prevent over-reaction of the highly reactive ring system. In parallel, the fluorinated pyrimidinyl fragment, central to flupyrimin’s potency, is prepared using established halogenation and nucleophilic substitution chemistry to introduce the difluoromethyl and chloro substituents without degrading the heteroaromatic ring. These two advanced intermediates are then joined through a selective N-alkylation or heteroaryl coupling step that installs the pyrimidinyl moiety onto the mesoionic core.
