| | 1,1,3,3-Tetraethylurea Usage And Synthesis |
| Uses | 1,1,3,3-Tetraethylurea is mainly used as surface active agent, intermediate of medical, pesticide, and high grade solvent etc. | | Uses | 1,1,3,3-Tetraethylurea is a useful building block for organic synthesis. | | Synthesis |
A solution of 20.0 g (0.4 mol) of sodium hydroxide in 30 mL of water was added dropwise to a mixture of 8.7 g (0.1 mol) of morpholine, 50 mL of chloroform, and 50 mL of 50 % aqueous NMMO, heated to 50 °C. The mixture was stirred for 1 h at 50 °C, cooled, and treated with chloroform, and the extract was evaporated to get 1,1,3,3-Tetraethylurea. Yield 3.5 g (35 %)
