| Uses | 9-(4-Bromophenyl)-10-phenylanthracene (cas# 625854-02-6) is a useful research chemical. | | Synthesis | The general procedure for the synthesis of 9-(4-bromophenyl)-10-phenylanthracene from 4-bromophenylboronic acid and compound (CAS:150712-74-6) is as follows:
(iv) Synthesis of 9-(4-bromophenyl)-10-phenylanthracene
In a 100 mL three-necked flask, 5.3 g (14 mmol) of 9-iodo-10-phenylanthracene, 2.9 g (14 mmol) of 4-bromophenylboronic acid and 0.18 g (0.15 mmol) of tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(0) were added sequentially. Subsequently, the atmosphere in the flask was replaced with nitrogen. To the reaction system was added 30 mL of toluene and 15 mL (31 mmol) of 2.0 mol/L aqueous sodium carbonate solution. The mixture was reacted at reflux for 10 h at 110 °C. Upon completion of the reaction, the precipitate in the reaction mixture was collected by diafiltration. The resulting solid was dissolved in toluene and filtered sequentially by filtration through Florisil, diatomaceous earth and alumina. The filtrate was concentrated and the resulting solid was recrystallized using a solvent mixture of chloroform and hexane. The final 4.1 g of the target product, 9-(4-bromophenyl)-10-phenylanthracene, was obtained as a light yellow powdery solid in 72% yield.
