| | 1-Cyclohexylpiperazine Usage And Synthesis |
| Chemical Properties | yellow-brownish low melting solid | | Uses | 1-Cyclohexylpiperazine is an σ1 and σ2 receptor ligands with diagnostic and therapeutic potentials. | | Synthesis Reference(s) | Tetrahedron Letters, 35, p. 7331, 1994 DOI: 10.1016/0040-4039(94)85306-1 | | Materials Uses | 1-Cyclohexylpiperazine can be used to develop new luminescent materials such as [CYP]ZnBr4 (CYP = 1-cyclohexylpiperazine). It is a highly efficient blue luminescent lead-free halide material with high luminous efficiency (photoluminescence quantum yield up to 79.22%) and stability, which can be used to manufacture highly efficient blue phosphors for white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) [1]. | | Synthesis | General procedure for the synthesis of 1-cyclohexylpiperazine from tert-butyl 4-cyclohexylpiperazine-1-carboxylate: tert-butyl 4-cyclohexylpiperazine-1-carboxylate (1.38 g, 5.15 mmol) was dissolved in a mixture of ethanol/hydrochloric acid (15 mL), and the reaction was stirred for 18 h at room temperature. After completion of the reaction, the solvent was removed by distillation under reduced pressure. To the residue, 5 mL of water was added and the aqueous phase was washed with ethyl acetate (5 mL × 3). Subsequently, the aqueous phase was adjusted to pH 7~8 with base and extracted with ethyl acetate (10 mL × 3). All organic phases were combined, dried with anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure to give 0.78 g of 1-cyclohexylpiperazine (confirmed by LC-MS and TLC, yield: 90.1%). | | References | [1] Wang, Yu-Yin et al. “High Emission Efficiency and Thermal Stability in Zero-Dimensional Hybrid Zinc Halide as a Blue Light Emitter.” Inorganic chemistry vol. 62,38 (2023): 15711-15718. doi:10.1021/acs.inorgchem.3c02313 |
