The general procedure for the synthesis of 6-chloro-5-methyl-2-pyridinamine from the compound (CAS:936727-56-9) was as follows: to a 50 mL reaction flask was added II-1 (2.26 g, 10 mmol), methanol (20 mL), and concentrated hydrochloric acid (1 equiv). The reaction mixture was heated to 70 °C and kept for 1 hour. Upon completion of the reaction, the mixture was concentrated, followed by the addition of 10 mL of water. The pH of the reaction system was adjusted to neutral with sodium hydroxide solution. Finally, the solid was collected by filtration to afford 1.2 g of the target product 6-chloro-5-methyl-2-pyridinamine in 85% yield.
