CALCIUM ACETATE HYDRATE Usage And Synthesis
Chemical PropertiesWhite powder or agglomerates
UsesCalcium acetate hydrate is used as a precursor to produce calcium ions in the development of calcium oxide based mesoporous carbon dioxide sorbent. It is an active component of pyroligneous acid-modified limestone. It is employed in the preparation of magnetite-calcium phosphate core-shell nanoparticles. It serves as a raw material in the preparation of hydroxyapatite-wollastonite composites. Further, it acts as a crosslinking agent in the microfluidic production of alginate hydrogel microbeads. In addition to this, it is used to induce crystallization of proteins.
Synthesisa. Add anhydrous calcium acetate to the aqueous calcium acetate solution, stirring while adding, to obtain the mixture, followed by keeping the mixture at 20C and continuing to stir for 5h; wherein the material-liquid ratio of the aqueous calcium acetate solution is 0.1g/mL and the pH is 4; b. the substance obtained in step a was subjected to filtration until the filtrate could not be filtered out; c. naturally drying the filter cake obtained in step b at 18C and 45% RH until constant weight is sufficient, wherein the condition of constant weight is a weight difference of 0.2 mg. its purity is 95.6%.
