| Chemical Properties | Decyl propionate is a colorless oily liquid. Very slightly soluble in
water, soluble in alcohol and oils.
Sp.Gr. 0.88. B.P. 265℃. Decyl propionate has a slightly fatty, aldehyde-like odor reminiscent of cognac. | | Uses | Finds some use in perfume compositions,
partly as a topnote ingredient to support
fresh-citrusy or Ambrette-seed-like notes, partly as a modifier in Citrus fragrance and fruity
notes. Used in flavor compositions for imitation
