The drug is synthesized by reacting benzonitrile with bromine and ammonia in a reaction system. 8-Bromoquinolin-2(1H)-one inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) by inhibiting cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase enzymes.
