General procedure for the synthesis of 6-amino-2H-1,4-benzomorpholin-3(4H)-one from 6-nitro-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one: to a solution of 6-nitro-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one (2.97 g, 15.00 mmol) in methanol (50 mL) was added 10% palladium/carbon catalyst (0.30 g). The reaction mixture was stirred under hydrogen atmosphere for 16 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the catalyst was removed by filtration and the filtrate was concentrated to afford 6-amino-2H-1,4-benzomorpholin-3(4H)-one (2.36 g, 95% yield) as a brown solid. Mass spectrometry (MS) analysis showed a molecular ion peak of 165 (M + H).
