Preparation2-Bromofuran can be prepared by adding hydrogen peroxide to a mixture of concentrated aqueous hydrogen bromide, thiophene, and diethyl ether, or by adding a solution of bromine in a concentrated aqueous bromide solution to a mixture of thiophene, diethyl ether, and hydrogen bromide.
Uses2-Bromofuran is commonly used as a raw material for the synthesis of various furan derivatives.
