DBU (1,8-Diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene) is a strong, non-nucleophilic organic base widely used in organic synthesis, polymer chemistry, and industrial applications. Its key applications include:  


1. Organic Synthesis  

- Base Catalyst: Promotes reactions like condensations, Michael additions, and Knoevenagel reactions.  

- Deprotection Agent: Selectively removes Boc (tert-butoxycarbonyl) protecting groups under mild conditions.  

- Nucleophilic Substitution: Facilitates SN₂ reactions by generating reactive anions.  

- Heterocycle Synthesis: Used in forming pyrimidines, triazoles, and other N-containing rings.  


2. Polymer Chemistry
