Harpagoside is isolated from Harpagophytum procumbens (Hp). Harpagoside inhibited COX-1 and COX-2 activity and inhibited NO production.

Pharmacological effect:

harpagoside can promote the proliferation of spleen lymphocytes of Yin-deficiency mice, induce the production of IL-2 in spleen lymphocytes, reduce the content of cAMP in plasma of Yin-deficiency mice, and adjust the ratio of cAMP/cGMP to the level of normal control group, so that the suppressed immune function can be restored.
