Steps:
3-(4-methylpiperazin-1-yl)-5-(trifluoromethyl)aniline (7 g).
General procedure: Compound 6a (0.79 g, 2.9 mmol) together with Fe powder (0.65 g, 11.6mmol) was dissolved in 95 % ethanol (40 mL) containing 8.8 mL AcOH.The mixture was stirred for 2 h at 80 C and then concentrated. Theresidue was added with saturated sodium carbonate to adjust the pH to8.0-9.0, and the solution was extracted with ethyl acetate (50 mL × 3).The organic layers were dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated.The crude material was purified via silica flash chromatography (PE/EA60:40) to give compound 7a cream-colored solid (0.60 g, 85 %).
