10 General procedure for the synthesis of indolyl oxoacetamides
General procedure: To an ice-cooled solution of indole (4) or its N-benzyl derivative (5)(2.5 mmol) in 5 mL diethylether, oxalyl chlroide (2.5 mmol) was addeddropwise for a period of over 5 min, and the reaction was continued at0 °C for 15 min. The obtained yellow precipitate of glyoxylyl chloridederivative (6) was filtered, washed with cold ether, and transferredimmediately to a solution of THF containing appropriate amount of aniline derivative, followed by addition of triethylamine (7.5 mmol).The reaction was continued at room temperature for 2 h, and THF wasremoved in vacuo to yield crude glyoxylamide. The crude precipitatewas then re-crystallized to obtain compounds 7a-i and 8a-i in 82-93%yields.
