Imazaquin ammonium Chemical Properties, Uses, Production
Production Methods
Imazaquin ammonium is produced by first synthesising the technical-grade imazaquin through the standard multistep heterocyclic route used for imidazolinone herbicides, where the quinoline and imidazolinone fragments are constructed separately and then coupled to yield the active acid. Once the acid meets specification, it is converted into the ammonium salt through controlled neutralisation with aqueous ammonia, creating a water-soluble form well suited to liquid herbicide formulations.
