Anp 1-28, human Chemical Properties, Uses, Production

Uses

Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) has been used to study its cross reactivity in melanin concentrating hormone (MCH) assay. It has also been used to study its effects in nerve fibres and nerve cell bodies.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) is synthesized in myoendocrine cells of the heart from which it is released into the circulation. It exerts natriuretic, diuretic, and vasodilatory effects through stimulation of guanylate cyclase-linked NPR-A receptors. It plays an important role in blood volume and blood pressure homeostasis.

ANF-(1-28) (0.5 μg/kg/min) infusion attenuates the rise in plasma creatinine levels by approximately 50% on each day of the study[3].
