Uses
8,9-Dichloro-2,3,4,4a-tetrahydro-1H-pyrazino[1,2-a]quinoxalin-5(6H)-one is a selective 5-hydroxytryptamine 2C receptor agonist with putative antidepressant like properties. It also blocks and decreases baseline nicotine-induced locomotor activity in rats.
Biological Activity
Potent and selective 5-HT 2C receptor agonist (K i = 4 nM; EC 50 = 12 nM). Antidepressant following systemic administration in vivo .
in vivo
(Rac)-WAY-161503 (3-30 mg/kg; intraperitoneal injection; male C57BL/6J mice) dose-dependently decreases locomotor activity, an effect that is blocked by the 5-HT2C/2B antagonist SER-082[1].
