2-Chloro-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaphospholane is an organic reagent commonly used in chemical and experimental research as a reagent for the phosphorylation of alcohols and heteroatoms for the formation of glycosyl donors and ligands, and in analytical studies of derivatised lignin samples. It is also used as a catalyst in CuO/TiO2 catalysed lignin oxidation studies.

Uses

2-Chloro-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaphospholane (TMDP) can be used:

• As a reagent for the phosphitylation of alcohols and heteroatomic nucleophiles, resulting in the formation of useful glycosyl donors and ligands.
• As a phosphitylation reagent to derivatize lignin samples for ³¹P NMR analysis.
