| | Methyl-DL-serine hydrochloride Usage And Synthesis |
| Chemical Properties | white crystalline powder | | Uses | D,L-Serine Methyl Ester Hydrochloride is used as a reactant in the preparation of chicoric acid analogs as HIV-1 integrase inhibitors. Also used in the total synthesis of (-)-Hennoxazole A. | | reaction suitability | reaction type: solution phase peptide synthesis | | Synthesis | 100 mL of methanol was added to a 30 mL triple-necked vial placed on a mechanical stirrer and cooled in an ice-water bath. 6.6 ml of dichlorosulfoxide was slowly added dropwise and stirring was continued for 1 hour after completion of the dropwise addition. Subsequently, 6.00 g (57 mmol) of DL-serine was added to the reaction system. The reaction mixture was heated to reflux and the reaction was continued for 18 hours. After completion of the reaction, the solvent was removed by distillation under reduced pressure. The product was dried to give 8.32 g of DL-serine methyl ester hydrochloride in 94.2% yield. | | References | [1] Heterocycles, 2012, vol. 86, # 2, p. 1575 - 1582 [2] Patent: CN105777611, 2016, A.
