| Synthesis |  Weigh 10 mmol of 2-methylaniline and 0.2 mmol of AlCl3 into a reaction flask, dissolve them in 100 mL of tetrahydrofuran, and add 30 mmol of ethylene oxide to the reaction flask at 0 °C. Maintain 0 °C and stir the reaction for 10 h. After separation and purification, N-hydroxyethyl-2-methylaniline (yield 83.1%) is obtained. Weigh 5 mmol of N-hydroxyethyl-2-methylaniline and 7.5 mmol of 2-methylaniline into a reaction flask, dissolve them in 200 mL of acetonitrile, add Sn/activated carbon supported catalyst, and stop the reaction after TLC detection of complete reaction of N-hydroxyethyl-2-methylaniline.
